“I can state first hand that your message was received by your audience and will have a long-lasting effect.” – Brigadier General Grant, Chief of the Joint Staff, Ft. Dix Military Base
Hey, I’m Kaitlyn one of the student from Carolina High School I had thanked you when signing my book today because that speech you gave was something I needed more then anything right now. I’ve been put down all my life about my dreams and hopes and choices that I’ve felt like I’m not worth anything, but when you said what you said today it touched me it made me realize that I can be anything I want to be I just have to follow my own dream not what others what for me. So thank you once more for coming to Carolina to speak. It really made an impact on my life.
- Kaitlyn Burns, NC
I just wanted to let you know what a terrific program Croix put on for our students today. He really connected with them in a meaningful way. I saw a dozen or so kids reading his book that he handed out during the course of the day. Thank you so much for helping us make the connection to get Croix here to speak to our students. He made an impact on some lives today.

Croix,
You are one amazing dude. I look forward each morning to seeing your progress and to check out your video blog.
I was thinking (as I approach my 1 year mark w/o chewing tobacco in my life thanks to you) how grateful that I am to have met you when I did. I have been blessed with an opportunity that most people never get to make my life look like I’ve always wanted it to look.
My quest is now for contemptment, self reliance and thanks to some quality work with you, “taking the road less travelled” which leads to a life of no regrets. I’m no longer looking for other people to make me happy, that’s my responsibility!
You’ve inspired me to triple my own weekly running mileage from around 12 per week to over 30. As you approach the Northeast. I’d love to run with you for a day. Best wishes on your home stretch!
- Dennis DiPinto, Danbury, CT
Hi Croix, You are such a treasure! We enjoyed you so much yesterday and I pray visiting us was rewarding and worthwhile for you. Thank you again for coming.
- Brenda Hillman, Douglas City Boys & Girls Club, GA
Hi, my name is Cody. You came to Monahans, my school. I started reading your book and it made me realize I’m the only one out of my brother and sister and me to go to college and finish I’m going to follow my dream and become a chef thank you so much for visiting my school. I will never forget this experience. (I got two updates from Cody. 1st telling me, “I just got my ACT scores and I mde a 17 out of 36 and as soon as I graduate im going straight to college and begin my life as a cook. and then another when he told me that he made captain of the swim team because he was “going for it all.”)

[A poem written to me ]
I have set my life long goal as to what I want to be.
Thanks to this wonderful stranger who inspired me.
I’ve learned to live day by day as I try to do my best.
Not to only encourage my self,
But to also encourage the rest.
Dream Big Act Big as he would say,
You have a lot of courage to inspire people every day.
Thanks for the inspiration and the speech you gave us too,
Your a very inspirational stranger may god always bless you.

Thank you so much for coming to Magnolia Middle School today! Our students loved it and were talking about their dreams all day. So often, our students are overlooked by society and rarely pushed to success. Again, thank you!
- Robin Gressett –teacher at Magnolia High School, Mississippi
I just wanted to personally thank you again for giving such a great talk today at Centenary! Your words are very inspiring, and they really hit close to home with me. Your story growing up really parallels with my own which intrigued me. You really motivated me to really do what I want in life which is to graduate from school and go back to being a professional horse back rider! But this time it will be on my own backing and will power. I hope the best of success for you Croix!
Thanks again,
- Paige Hewlett, Centenary College, MS
I accepted our High School principal’s invitation to bring my 5th Grade class to your seminar on Friday, April 8. I sat next to one of my favorite students who exclaimed, “This guy is crazy!”
What you don’t know is that this same student comes from an extremely difficult background. You also don’t know that because of her incredible potential, my prinicipal and I have conspired to help her create a vision of her future success. We constantly tell her, “You’ve been given the gift of teaching.” Who knows whether or not she’ll become a teacher (though she does have “the knack.”) The point is, we want her to know that we see her potential.
When you asked the students to share their career goals, she looked at me and said, “I want to be a teacher.” She then stood up and claimed her boldness throughout your seminar (even receiving a wristband for her declaration)!
It was truly inspiring to watch my students throughout your presentation. Thank you for inspiring me, as well. I am currently exploring my own potential and appreciated your message so much! Enjoy your adventure!
- Christina Kelly, teacher Santo High School, TX

Croix when I first met you at practice in Fabens I thought crazy white guy just trying to get attention’ but then as I started to run with you and listen to what you were saying I realized I was wrong! Since I got your book I’ve read it 4 times, your run, book, and life have motivated me to accomplish many goals that I was going to give up on, and for that I want to say gracias amigo. – Guillermo Sanchez, Fabens, TX
Croix – thanks once again for coming out and speaking at the Weatherford event when you ran through Texas. Since reading your book we made a major change and made a move that I think aligns with one of our family’s long-term goals. I can indirectly attribute that to the book and the talk – so thank you for coming out and sharing!
– Chris Enslow, Weatherford, TX
Great talk! Inspiring for all ages. I’m glad to see that you are bringing your story to the young folks as that is where a lot of dreams are distroyed, I know that from my own experience. I wish I had the opportunity to meet you in my teens, I would have listened. It would have saved me a lot of time figuring life out. Thanks for what you are doing.
- Patricia Golden, Boys and Girls Club, Van Horn, TX
Mr. Sather, just want to say thank you and to let you know you have already made a difference in my life. Have been in a rut for the last 5 years, but after hearing your stories I know now that I will get through the finish line. Thank you again and God Speed. Hope you got to see your star last night up on the Franklin Mountain.

Your speech was fantastic. I’m following your book as if it were scripture. You’re phenomenal. Thank you very much for coming to our school and speaking to us. It was an amazing opportunity for us to have you in our auditorium. Good luck with the rest of your journey and thank you for the help with mine. – Sapphyre Callahan, Carolina High School
